How learning analytics is supporting the changing roles of educators in higher education today

CEG Digital's Head of Academic Research and Quality, Dr Maria Toro-Troconis, is presenting a paper at the 17th Academic Practice and Technology (APT 2019) conference on 1 July at University College London.

The conference is exploring how higher and further educators in 2019 are responding to meet the challenges of student expectations about teaching quality, and how their education should prepare them effectively for their future careers. Educators' roles are changing and they are asking critical questions such as: How can we help our students to thrive in the face of a buffeting digital maelstrom? Where can technology create distinctive possibilities? Where might it actually hinder learning?

The paper presented by Dr Toro-Troconis (co-authored by Laura Coutts and Manuel Frutos-Perez) is titled 'How learning analytics is supporting the changing roles of educators in higher education today' and explores how learning analytics have been used at CEG Digital in combination with student feedback to assess student engagement.

Dr Toro-Troconis will present examples of the visualisations produced to evaluate some of the CEG Digital online programmes. She will also discuss how learning analytics can further support and enhance the changing role of educators in higher education.
